Agree to Terms Before Playing
Once you have found an opponent,
make sure that you agree on the terms of the game
before you start.
Unless you bother to do this, you will eventually run
into someone who does not think of the terms of the game same as you, and
you will have a dispute. A lot of angry shouting, and even some
flamewars in rec.games.go, have been witnessed as a result.
Here is a list of important points that should be clear
prior to the start of any game:
- how much time you will need
- if you do not allow undo
- if you do not allow addtime
- the correct handicap if your
relative strength is not clear
- whether the match is rated
To save time, check your opponent's info line with
the 'stats' command, and put relevant information in your own info line.
